IndiGo, India’s preferred airline, soared to new heights and touched new frontiers in 2023. Not only did it become India’s first airline to fly 100 million customers, but also the first in the country to operate 2,000 daily flights. In this process, it cemented its place among the Top 10 airlines in the world and achieved many other landmarks along the way. Presenting India by IndiGo – some interesting stories, anecdotes and facts that make us India’s most loved airline.

  • We carried more than 100mn passengers – 104,497,646 to be precise. That is nearly 7% of India’s population. Of these:
    • More than 90.25 million passengers flew on domestic sectors
    • 2 million passengers crossed borders to international destinations
    • Nearly 20 million were corporate travellers
    • And more than 84 million travelled for leisure or to meet their loved ones
  • We touched 17 new destinations in 2023. This included exotic destinations like Tashkent, Baku, Tbilisi, Jakarta, Nairobi in international, and Gondia, Jharsuguda, Diu, Jaisalmer in India. More than 1.2 million customers joined us on our inaugural flights.
  • More than 1.38 million students swapped their school bags for backpacks and travelled with us. That’s almost the entire population of Mizoram!
  • We welcomed nearly 1.75 million senior citizens onboard IndiGo flights. Not just that, we also carried 1.03 million infants on board! That’s more than the number of babies born in Germany in 2023!
  • 2,430 kg- That was the weight of the maximum amount of excess baggage booked on a single PNR. Now that’s what we call ‘Go big and #goIndiGo!
  • 3,647 km: from Visakhapatnam to Chandigarh via Mumbai, Jammu, Srinagar, and Delhi! That was the longest domestic itinerary booked on a single PNR. Almost as much as the distance from Kashmir to Kanyakumari!
  • The eternal debate between beaches and hills was settled in favour of the beaches in 2023! More than 20 million passengers headed for the coast and more than 3.8 million took a ‘peak’ at the mountains
  • November 25, 2023, marked the busiest day on our network. Looks like the post Diwali party continued.
  • Delhi – Mumbai was the busiest route on our network. And one thought that the two cities don’t get along!
  • 73,577 takeoffs from our busiest domestic city – Delhi
  • 5,469 takeoffs from our busiest international destination – Dubai
  • Fastest turnaround time – 13 mins. Our crew might soon give F1 teams a run for their money!

And finally, a big thank you to all our customers who have supported us throughout our 17-year journey. At IndiGo, we are proud to give wings to the nation, by connecting people and aspirations- ‘India by IndiGo.’
